Gaming Tablets/Gamepads

I wouldn’t say it’s a tablet, but more like a gaming console like the PSP Vita or Nintendo. Comes with built in Emulators to run the latest or some old titles. The hardware on these tablets are also design to be solely for gaming purposes and the construction also resembles that closely.

Other Cherry Trail Tablets (includes Reboots and Budget)

The tablets are powered by the latest Intel Cherry Trail Processor (X5-Z8500 and Z8300). These tablets are mostly reboots of last years Bay Trail Processor, which offers slight improvement in terms of performance. Although these tablets i would not really call gaming tablets because the GPU is not strong enough to handle graphically intensive games like Dota 2 etc.. However, older titles like Warcraft 3, counterstrike (source) works fine but details are kept at a minimum.

76 Comments on Tablet Buyer’s Guide – Choose, Compare, Decide

  1. I need help with my tablet made in China. It won’t connect to the internet and I can’t change the time on it. I never had a tablet before. It’s a Atoah Quad Core google android 4.2 jelly bean Model # N9pro

  2. Hi Vincent,

Thank you for your great tablet comparison. I need you opinion on the processor MT8752 Octa Cores versus Intel Atom X5- Z8300 Quad Core versus Intel Cherry TrailZ8300 Quad Core. I am planning to buy the Teclast 8″ Tablet and I need you opinion.

    Many thanks!

    • Hello JL teoh
The MT8752 is a Mediatek CPU and is almost similar to the MT6592 Octa Core (32 bit edition), and is exclusively only for Android.
The Intel X5 8300 is an upgraded of the Z3735F Baytrail. The X5 8500 (on the Teclast X98 Pro) – upgrade of the Z3736F (only CPU clock is the difference, same architecture and GPU).
The Intel Cherry Trail supports both Android and Windows 10. It is newer, faster, and much efficient in terms of battery and performance

      Best Regards,
      Vince

  3. Hi Vincent,
    Great site, thanks.
I m looking for a 9-10 inch tablet, probably like iPad, however I am a bit concerned re the quality of some of these tablets as the makes are not known to me. Do some makes have a better reputation for reliability or build quality?
Could you recommend a tablet with good design for gen use?
    Regards

  4. thank you Vince for what you doing.
More than a year ago I purchase China tablet Pipo P8. I chose it because it was one of those IPAD MINI-like tablet and it had 3G and build in GPS. the quality of tables build was too cheap. I used it for a bit and sold it. So now I’m intrested in buying something like ipad mini size (8″-8.5″). I need it for general use : search, read, youtube, movies (no gaming), and GPS build in with 4G LTE so I could use it on the road for trucking apps. Can you help me / advice me what to choose best tablet as brand and best seller on the Internet.
Thank you in advance for your help and your time.

    • Hello Tolik,

In terms of iPad Mini likeness, the Xiaomi MiPad 2 is the closest thing, but for GPS and 4G LTE, then the Huawei M2 is your best choice.

      Best Regards,
      Vince

  5. Hi, thank you very much for the great information! I was wondering if there is anything like the iPad pro coming out soon. I really want a tablet with similar build and active digitizer. The cube i7 is great but the screen dimensions and resolution is not what I’m looking for.

    • Hello Gene,

i was also wondering of an iPad Pro look alike, but it seems, the trend mostly are reboot tablets to Cherry Trail, Ultrabooks/versatile tablets or transformer tablets. Maybe in the coming months, a similar product will be released. Anyway, in terms of touch experience, Windows 10 isn’t really perfect, if you compared to iOS, which is more polish.

      Best Regards,
      Vince

      • Thanks for the reply! I mainly want the tablet for OneNote and some light media consumption, hence the need for an active digitizer and higher resolution screen. iOS is great and all, but the 900 dollar premium is a definite no for me.

        • Hello Gene,

How about the Teclast X2 Pro? powered by Core M processor. Most of the tablets with Wacom stylus processor have electromagnetic pressure sensitive screens.

          Best Regards,
          Vince

    • Hello Azri,

Excellent choice. In terms of features i would have to go with the Teclast X80 Pro, however, its currently not available. The Teclast X80 Plus, would be another good choice, although it only has a 720p HD instead of 1080p display. But both versions supports Dual OS out of the box.

On the other hand, the Chuwi Vi8 Plus offers type C reversible connector which is a big plus to have, also the tablet is priced closely with the teclast x80 plus. The Chuwi Hi8 Pro has similar features but lacks type C connector and is a bit pricy compared to the other tablets.

      Best Regards,
      Vince

      • Oh by the way vince. My focus is on the windows version of the tablet. If like this then across all of your tablet which is the best below 100$ tablet? Thanks in advance

        • Hello Azri,

I prefer Dual OS tablets, Windows isn’t really optimize for touch and i am much more comfortable with Android OS for multimedia (youtube, games). System runs smoother, if it is just Windows, you have limited availability of Apps, except for PC games, but Atom processors aren’t really ideal for games, they struggle at games, but run best on Android based Games. The Teclast X80 is still good for you, or the Chuwi Vi8 Plus (type C Connector), either way, get the cheapest one or the best value.

          Best Regards,
          Vince

  6. Dear Vincent

I need PC for work out of home. I need Windows, Word, Excel, e-readers, screen 11,6 is enough for comfortable work.
My choose between Voyo A1 Plus and Teclast X16 Pro.
    What do you advice?

    • Hello Oleksiy,

the Voyo A1 Plus will be enough for your use i think, anyway, the Teclast X16 Pro is a Transformer tablet, which means separate keyboard. The A1 Plus is a yoga style Ultrabook

      Best Regards,
      Vince

  7. Hello Vince, you very good job on your website! Is much better than other website and you help us a lot to decide what is good for our budget!

  8. Hi Vince,
i think your quides should be the best in the net for tablets!

So i want an entry level tablet with low cost,
do you think that Cube iWork 10 Flagship is the right choise?

My primary needs is to edit large pdf files (i.e. 100 mb)
and leave some notes in chapters, i am teacher if thats make it easier to explain my needs in details.

  9. Dear Vince,
    thanks for your reply,
could you please clarify that Teclast X98 Plus, and Voyo A1 or V3,
can work equal the stylus pen as cube iwork 10?

I want to mention that my main interest is that these three tablets can work stylus pen with the same behavior. If that is true, so i can choose one of them.

    Many Thanks for your advises,
    Jim

  10. Good afternoon Vince,

i am reading about a month blogs. various eshops, and several other websites about these kind of tablets and my brain start getting very hot!
Always i was starting and ending with Cube IWork10 (depending my budget which is max 200 usd – tablet with keyboard and pen) but it is very easy to get confused!!!

After your reply, i am going to finish this market research and buy the IWork10.
It was almost clear all this for me, but i need a small push from an expert.

    Quite oblige for your time,
    Best Regards
    Jim

  11. HI. Things about tablets fascinates me. I am in Kamas, Ghana. In fact you are doing a great job. No other site has this stuff. Very detailed with lots of information. It seems like you have experience for almost all the Chinese tablet. How do you get them. Do you purchase them all? Have you used them all before?
Please what is the most durable Chinese tablet with phone calling function. Thanks a lot. More grease to your elbow. Continue with your great work.

  12. Dear Friends,
Considering the old bugs and the new reviews , specially the big problems with Chuwi Hi8 Pro, I would like to have your oppinion about the best tablet choice of these 3 ones ( renew and updated , and all with Dual OS).
Cube Iwork8 Ultimate – Chuwi Hi8 Pro and Teclast X80 Pro.

Which one will the the best buy ???
    Let me have your impressions,
    Thanks and Regards

    • Hello Ferreira,

The Teclast X80 pro seems the best buy, The Chuwi Hi8 Pro did have an issue with their previous models about the USB Type C connector.

      Best Regards,
      Vince

  13. Hello Vince. I really appreciate your work. I was scrolling trough comments about stylus tablets and couldn’t find a an answer similar to what I’m looking for. So, I was wondering if you could help me pick a tablet.

I need something with stylus(a must), yet relatively cheap. It will be used to take notes during lectures. Since I’m a student I try to squeeze every cent from the tech that I buy. Beautiful screen and performance factors are very important. Budget is around 600$/500eur.

Currently thinking about buying venue pro 11 (7130(i5-4300y, 8gb ram, 128gb ssd) refurbished), Cube i7(new). Discovered telecast x2 pro today, don’t know much about it. What to choose or should I wait for telecast x3?

Maybe you could recommend something else, or just provide some points that would help me to make my mind up?

  14. Hi Vince, I am currently considering Jumper Ezpad mini3, particularly because of the full usb 3.0 on 8 inch tablet. But I haven’t seen much review of this tablet. Is the quality of Jumper same as Chuwi ot Techlast.

    • Hello nahr,

Jumper has actually been on the tablet market for years, but it has gone quite on 2015. On 2016, they did make a comeback with the Jumper Epad. Because it is relatively new, i can’t attest if it has the same quality and reliability with teclast.

      Best Regards,
      Vince

  15. hi Vince
    great site you have
i need your advise for my next purchase
what you suggest me to buy between the Chuwi Vi7 and the Teclast X70 R?
they are out at the same price on gearbest.com (is this a ok website?)
or i have to add 15 euro more and buy the Teclast P80 3G?
    thank you
    Davide

  16. I wonderful if there is any tablet or ultrabook for business… Prefer dual boots, But window Only is Okay, the spec, build Quality and very convenience to Type a lot… Prefer latest core m or cherry trail

    • Hello Meddy,

Core M tablets are almost always Windows 10, Dual Boots (there are plenty and usually Cherry Trail), may I know your preferred size of your tablets.

      Best Regards,
      Vince

        • I prefer tablet use detachable keyboard and how much estimation Custom duty to deliver in Indonesia, couple weeks ayo I ordered smartphone from another site, it cost more than 100 dollars

    • Hello Meddy,

Usually all packages go through customs, gearbest sends packages declared as gift for lower taxes.

      Best Regards,
      Vince

  17. Dear Vince,
    I’ve two questions:
    1) can I delete Win10 from a dual os tablet (if I need only Android)?
    2) What cheap (under 100$) tablet (android) 10″ screen, good battery, do you suggest for a normal use (viewing movie, web surfing, very low end games)?

  18. offering advice vicen.toi thanks you help me on the brand (teclast, chuiwi, cube, onda) 10-11 inches.toi very passionate. and my cv is not much. but I want it the most complete (10-onda teclast obook tbook hibook pro chuwi 10- and cube..10) choose me. Vicen most persistent under evaluation. I believe the sharing of Vicen. front charity

    • Hello Ly Thang,

Could you answer a few questions. What are you going to use the tablet for? What do you mean by most complete tablet?

      Best Regards,
      Vince

  19. Hi Vince, well done this is a really useful site. Can you tell me, is there a tablet out there that runs android, has a nice resolution say HD1080+, usb ports x2 or usb and a power jack (so I can charge whilst using OTG) with GPS and a tf card slot? I can’t seem to find all of those things in one tablet.
    Thanks,
    Guy

  20. Hello Vince! Thank you for the effort you put in maintaining this list of tablets – it’s quite useful.
I’m looking for a 9-12 inch tablet with a resolution above 1080p, 4G of RAM, good processor (Core M preferably but Cherry Trail still ok) AND GPS. It seems like most tablets don’t include GPS anymore for some reason.. 🙁

    • Hello Sorin,

GPS support is pretty hard to find for a tablet, especially that not all tablets supports built in Data connection. So far, in terms of performance, the Cube i9 and i7 Zealot, holds strong.

      Best Regards,
      Vince

  21. Dear Vince,
It was a great guide. Thank you. But i am a little bid confused while choosing.
I am looking for a ultrabook table including dualboot with 4G ram(or higher) and an acceptable SSD. I will use it for my daily life and gaming like dota. It must contain HDMI and USB Type C. If I contains a simcard it will be great but it is not necessary. What is your recommandation from bugdeted to premium.
    Thanks so much.

  22. I just bought an Onda OBook 10 Ultrabook tablet PC and it’s giving me loads off problems to connect to WI FI. Can you tell me what should I do and whether I will get the money back?
