Mac Mini?

Onda’s take on the Mini PC department is clearly an attractive one, obviously the Mini PC design bares close resemblance to the Mac Mini. The Aluminum Body make it look premium. The Onda M3 Mini is the successor to the M2 Mini, but it seems to quite similar, hardware wise, instead of Intel Pentium J9100, the M3 makes use of Intel Celeron. Not a giant leap in performance and not really a powerful device. It seems to be under powered especially compared to the Voyo V3 Mini.

Continuing with hardware, you still have 120 GB of MSATA SSD storage available, which is indeed faster then any eMMC available. Also unlike the M2 Mini, it now comes with OS preinstalled. You now have 2 USB 3.0 standard ports available.

In terms of connectivity, the WiFi Antenna protrudes outside for better reception and can also supports extension, but you can also plug it in on a RJ45 Ethernet cable, because the PC supports this option natively. VGA Port is also available for older monitors.

  1. if the os is not pre-installed, how is it provided?
will this be powerful enogh for plex media server to transcode high def video for phones and tablets on a local network?

    1. Hello Harry,

You have to install the OS, unfortunately it is a barebones PC, you don’t have the luxury of an OS provided. In terms of transcoding, the CPU actually is not that powerful and comparable to bayTrail performance. So, not much on power but rather on light usage, 1080p video or 4K video output if available.

      Best Regards,
