As you can see on the table above, there is quite a difference between the two. So, lets examine them more clearly here

Snapdragon 616 (Adreno 405) versus Mediatek 8176 (PowerVR)

In terms of performance, both of these chipsets are on the average area. They don’t offer blistering performance as well noticeable gaming improvements. Although for the gaming part, I would go for the Adreno 405 because it is more optimized, however, it will still not offer buttery smooth gaming performance as expected.

Build Quality

Both of these tablets are premium, so no big difference here.

EMUI versus MIUI

Well, these two UIs are heavily customized, so it is a matter of choice. You should also take note, that the new MIUI 8.2 version for the Mi Pad 3 is still buggy right now.

3 GB versus 4 GB RAM plus memory expansion

Honestly, I don’t see a huge difference between the two. However, if you stooped down to 2GB (Mi Pad 2), then you can see the difference. 3GB is more or less a standard for Smartphone as well as Tablet.

Retina versus 1080p

Go for retina, the MiPad 3 as well as the Mi Pad 2 share the same screen and it is gorgeous and probably one of its best asset. Although for gaming, the 1080p is less straining to the chipset.

USB Type C versus MicroUSB 2.0

If you want quick charging, then the Mi Pad 3 offers you that luxury. It can quickly charge the tablet in less than 2 hours and also offers blistering fast read and write speeds.

4G LTE, GPS versus None

This is probably the area where the Huawei Honor Pad 2 edges over the Mi Pad 3. It comes with 4G LTE Support and GPS built in. It also supports Full Phone Functionality, meaning it can also be categorized as a Phablet.

4800mAh versus 6600mAh

What I loved about the Mi Pad 2 as well as the Mi Pad 3 was the very long battery life. Nevertheless, Huawei is also great on that category. Battery life on most of their phones and tablets are superb. So I would say that battery life here is tied, although the battery of the Huawei Honor Pad 2 is smaller, the chipset is also more efficient. But this does not include using the 4G LTE.

Verdict? It is a matter of choice, If you want 4G LTE support, GPS, emory Expansion, as well as a slightly better gaming, then go for the Huawei Honor Pad 2. But for an almost 100% carbon copy look of the iPad Mini, great screen and USB Type C support, then the Xiaomi Mi Pad 3 is also a good option. Which is your priority? 4G LTE or looks?

Personally, I do need LTE and GPS more, so I would choose the Huawei Honor Pad 2.
