Video Reference: Short Review of the Chuwi Vi8, “the tablet to own”…

The Chuwi Vi8 is one of the cheapest tablet to gaze with Dual OS (Windows 8.1 and Android 4.4) all in one package. The tablet also features a powerful Intel Atom 64 bit Quad Core processor with 2 GB DDR3 RAM and 32 GB storage built in. The tablet also features WIDI (Wireless display Support) and is able to output video up to 1080p video decoding.

The tablet comes with a portable 8.0″ IPS display with a respectable 1280 x 800p resolution. The tablet’s touch screen sensitivity is decent compared to other tablets of the same price range. The tablet has built in Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n with support for up to 150Mbps and decent reception range. Unfortunately, there is no built in 3G Support, although the tablet supports External 3G Dongle via USB OTG mode.

The Chuwi Vi8 has a design similar to the Dell Venue, although most of the build quality is Plastic, the tablet is fairly portable and sturdy. Underneath is a decent 5000mAh battery which will give around 4.5 to 5 hours of usage time, this scenario is with Wi-Fi turned running, Display at close to maximum brightness. At the back is a single Mono loudspeaker that outputs decent audio performance despite the lack of bass. The volume is good but lacks a bit more equalizing. Also, at the rear is a 2.0 megapixel camera and a sub par 0.3 megapixel front camera. The camera performance is really below average, thus one should not use the camera solely for taking pictures.

Overall, the Chuwi Vi8 biggest strength is its price. The tablet sole competition are tablets that offer low end performance as well as 1 GB RAM and a non HD Display. At 8.0 inches, the tablet is indeed portable. The premium performance seen on much expensive tablets and the addition of Dual OS, makes this tablet a must have. Also worth noting that the tablet lacks build in 3G but at this price, the tablet is definitely a steal.
